Nothing compares to preparing your baby's first foods. This is the best way to introduce new foods and flavors to your baby. All you need is your basic sauce pan, saute pan, and a good quality blender or food processor.
Believe me, I don't blame moms for getting the jar food for convenience sake. It's definitly great in a pinch. However, boiling and blending does not take much time AND you get a lot more food for the money. When I was feeding my little ones mashed foods, my convenient grab-and-go meal was often a banana mixed with avocado or other fruit. With a little planning, you can introduce all your baby's first foods and easily transition them to solids.
This was my book...In fact, I should revisit for some toddler meal ideas.
It's all about the puree...
I liked to use ice cube trays and the colorful First years storage containers to store batches of food. The advantage of containers is you could have a meal ready to go in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch and dinner. I liked the First years colorful containers offered an aesthetic value for my efforts. But, if I had to do it again, I'd probably just use my glass pyrex containers for the fridge and cube trays for the freezer. The trays are good for freezing (obviously), but this also allows you to mix and match foods when baby's ready for a little variety.
If you can splurge, go for the VIta-Mix. This is one heck of a blender that'll work well beyond your kids first foods. Otherwise, a regular blender or even food processor will do the job.
I'm proud to say that making baby food was one of my greatest parenting achievements. Charlie would tell me that Victor was such a good eater BECAUSE I made all of his baby food. It wasn't long before Harriet destroyed that theory.
Making your baby's food is rewarding, cost-effective, and very healthy for your little one. Here are a few websites people have shared that offer some great food suggestions.

Friday's Feng Shui tip is about creating an inspiration binder with anything and everything you like from new and old magazines. Put the clippings in clear sheet protectors and place them in a three ring binder. You can also use tabs to separate sections (living room, dining room, etc). Sometimes I put complete spreads in one sheet protector to refer back to the entire article.
I have three binders..one for home decor, one for gardening, and one for recipes. If you're not ready to clip out your latest magazines, find older issues at thrift stores and Half Price books. The best magazines have decorating spreads with lasting style.
Refer back to your collection of when you're ready to embark on a new project or just feeling like browsing through beautiful images without ads. Happy weekend!
Friday's Feng Shui tip is about enhancing the space in your home (or a room) that represents the area of "helpful people" on the Bagua. The Bagua is a map that's used to define the way energy moves in living space. It's a useful tool that helps guide us so our home and the things we have in it reflect what we desire in our life.
My last post was about supporting Kit and her short film, which requires help and support from lots of people in order for "Stakeout" to meet it's full potential. Mark and Kit ABSOLUTELY need to apply some quick and easy Feng Shui solutions to energize the "helpful people" space in their home to reflect their desires for financial support and every other kind of assistance required for this project.
Find the helpful people area in your home using the bagua. The tips at the bottom of this post can assist you as well.
The "helpful people" area in the home is the bottom right hand corner when your standing in the doorway. The bagua can be laid out over the entire house AND within individual rooms.
This area In Mark and Kits house is bottom right corner of their living room and the bottom right of Mark's office.
Mark, your office is actually a projection of career and helpful people which is very positive. (Even more positive is your sitting room off the kitchen because this is an extension of the wealth area- the polarity of both these projected spaces is VERY good). You can never move.
Anyway, for the immediate purpose I'd energize the bookshelf to your right upon entering the office and the wooden cabinet in your living room (to the right of your steps) by clearing any clutter or anything that might represent some old energy. For now, you're really focusing on "Stakeout".
And add...
Finally, Mark, when your adding these things use heart felt intention. In other words, don't be annoyed with me and all this "crystal rubbing" business.
For everyone else, feel free to comment or contact me if there's a particular area in your life that could use a Feng Shui solution.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!!
